RHS Science Field Trip A Great Success
As a parent volunteer on an Honors Earth Science field trip April 16, I was extremely impressed with my son's fellow classmates and their hands on experiences during a fossils discovery event in Kingston, New York. Under the unique supervision of teacher Mr. Condosta and fellow associate Dr. John T. Nicholas, Professor of Geology, students learned about life relative to four hundred million years ago, when everything was under roughly 80 degree water back then. With the best of weather conditions, the students meticulously uncovered an assortment of fossil discoveries alongside a mountain that might become extinct someday, if developers build homes on that tract of land. Currently, the Kingston, New York land owner is allowing students to conduct fossil digs, which produced many examples of the types of life on earth ages ago. I was able to capture the fossil adventure on tape for broadcast on cable TV public access. Ridgefield school administrators can be proud of Mr. Condosta's field trip and discover it as a model for other future field trips as well. As a public school teacher with administrative background, I applaud the students for their scientific inquiry study skills and teacher leaders as well.
