...On the education beat with Al Bruhn...

(Weston, Connecticut)...Since late October of this year,

Al Bruhn has been on long term assignment as Business Computer Technology

teacher with the Weston Public School district. Teaching two courses at the

high school one of which is Business Concepts and the other Advanced Computer

Applications, Al Bruhn also teaches computer applications to students of grades

6, 7 and 8 at the middle school here in town.

Although a retired Connecticut teacher, Al Bruhn holds a current Connecticut

teacher license which allows him legally to be placed in a long term teaching assignment

with the Weston schools.

Crediting Mr. Bruce Simon, assistant principal at the middle school, for inviting

Al Bruhn on board to be a guest teacher, the inspired teacher also highly praises

his immediate supervisor Maxine Petruccelli for providing excellent guidance

to enable him to produce and provide creative learning experiences for his students

at both the high school and middle school.

"Truly, it's like being reborn," Al Bruhn noted about his new teaching position.

"The students are highly enlightened and provide the stimulus for me to be the

best teacher I can for them," Al Bruhn commented.

Al Bruhn equally salutes his fellow staff members and parents for caring about the

safety and welfare of the children in the schools, and in particular their education.

To quote Mr. Simon, "a door closes and a window opens." "How truer can that be,"

Al Bruhn asks.

Equating some of his past teaching experiences to being on the last plane out of

Saigon, Al Bruhn gleefully claims he feels like he has commandeered a supersonic jet

and weathers all daily challenges with accurate scientific responses for a safe flight.

Claiming that there are only two outstanding public school districts he has and is

associated with today naming Weston Public Schools and Brewster Center Public School District,

Al Bruhn emphatically states that outstanding schools have good people and bad schools don't.

Remembering his past experiences in bad schools, Al Bruhn is all that more happy today

and thankful for being a part of outstanding schools.

In addition to teaching, Al Bruhn's an assistant wrestling coach with Weston schools

and the town's park and recreation department.
