Krystian Joachim Mazan joined Sports Club �Stal� Rzesz�w at the age of 8. From that moment he has been praclising wrestling. In December 1989, he got the first place in the Contest for Young Athletes, in the category up to 25 kilograms. In the years 1990 - 1993, he was a leading young athlete in the Malopoiska Macroregion.

In November 1994, he took the 3d place in the K. Kozyrski Contest, in the 37 kilogarn category. In February 1.995, he received the title �Champion of Malopoiska Macroregion�. Following this, he was acknowledged the best team member and then the team elected him Captain. In May 1995, during the Individual Championships of Poland in free style, he was the 6th in the 40 kilogram category. In November 1995, he took the 4th place (43 kilograms) in the Antoni Lakomy Memorial Contest. In December 1996, he was the third (53 kilograms) in the international Wrestling Contest in RzeszOw, Three months later, he was the third in the International Contest in Slovakia. In June 1997, he took the 5th place in the Individual Polish Championships, and in October, he was the second best (55 kilograms) in the 13th Franciszek Harczenko Memorial. Following this, he took the 5� place (57 kilograms) in the International Contest- Baltic Cup. In 1998, he was the 4th (60 kilograms) in the Polish Cup for Under 20�s. In 1999, the team of Sports Club �Stal� Rzesz�w won a bronze medal in the Team Campionships (16 teams) in Bialogard. A year later, during the Team Championships of Poland, it won a silver medal. During the Championships for Juniors in April 2001, Krystian Joachim Mazan became a vice-champion of Poland. In May 2001, he got a bronze medal in the Championships of Poland for Seniors.
