SCHOOLS: Lindsay plans to leave RHS for Williamsburg

Dr. Dianna Lindsay, Ridgefield High School�s principal for the last three years, has all but nailed down a new job in Virginia and is expected to leave here next month.
She is awaiting board approval to become executive director of secondary instruction and staff development overseeing six schools � three high schools and three middle schools � for the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools in Virginia.
Dr. Lindsay was announced Tuesday morning as the nominee of Dr. Gary S. Mathews, the Williamsburg-James City County schools superintendent, for the position � though action by the district�s school board is still required. A posting on the Williamsburg-James City Schools website listed Dr. Lindsay as one of five appointments made by Dr. Matthews �pending school board approval on July 18, 2006.�
Ridgefield School Superintendent Kenneth Freeston said he is working with Dr. Lindsay on transition plans on the expectation the Williamsburg appointment become official next week.  
 �Dr. Lindsay is committed to staying in Ridgefield through the end of August to assure a smooth opening of Ridgefield High School,� Dr. Freeston said in a new release.
He said he anticipates discussing transition plans and the search for a new Ridgefield High School principal options with the Board of Education at its meeting on Aug. 21. The first day of school is Aug. 28.
Dr. Lindsay came here in the summer of 2003.
She has had a 35-year career in education, including service as principal at three public high schools in Ohio and one in Illinois, as well as  being headmaster at a day school in Ohio.
She is also president of the Principals� Center at Harvard University and a member of its board of managers.
