DRUGS IN SCHOOL: More than one sniff dog visits Ridgefield High
Jan 4, 2007

Police dogs searched Ridgefield High School over the Christmas vacation, sniffing for drugs throughout the facility.
The police used trained police dogs from other towns as well as Ridgefields drug-sniffing police dog Zeus, School Superintendent Kenneth Freeston said.
While it will not be our normal practice to comment on the details of using dogs to detect the presence of drugs at the high school and the results of that use, we do want the public to know that during the vacation, the police dogs inspected the Ridgefield High School facility, not just the lockers, he said.
While the dogs showed some interest in a few lockers, no drugs or other illegal substances were detected anywhere in the building.
The police will inspect Ridgefield High School with a drug-sniffing dog on a periodic unannounced schedule, Dr. Freeston said.
The objective of this baseline exercise was to establish a reference point for future inspections, he said.
